Summer Day Camp Parent Information Page
At ACC Leisure Services Summer Camps, we understand that as a parent, you want to make sure that your child will have a safe and fun time at camp. It's important to be able to trust that your child is in good hands, and that they are being respected as well as taken care of. Understanding this, we have created this "Parents' Page" to give you a good overview of who we are, what we stand for, and what some of our expectations are. If you have any questions that are not answered on this page, feel free to give us a call at (706) 613-3800, or send us an e-mail by clicking on "Contact Us" on our homepage.
Introduction
ACC Leisure Services Summer Camps is a place where the safety and well being of your child is our first priority. We want you to feel completely assured of this when you drop-off your child at Camp for an incredible week where education, experiences, and fun create memories.
Our Staff
Our staff are hired with great care and lots of thought. ACC Leisure Services Summer Staff application process requires prospective staff members to provide information regarding their particular skills and abilities, experiences working with kids, and much more. They are required to pass a completed criminal record check and a drug test. Prospective staff must also complete seasonal staff orientation and First Aid and CPR training. We consider each complete application, interview, and the comments of applicants as we consider whether to offer a position to prospective staff. Once our staff are on site, they participate in a week of training which may include van driver's training, site-specific staff training, as well as the required First Aid and CPR training.
Medications & Medical Conditions
Each camper must have a medical form on file which includes medication authorization. The only medications that will be administered to campers will be the ones provided by the parent and authorized in writing to disburse. Pack medications separately and label them with the camper's full name. You will be asked to give them to the camp supervisor upon arrival at camp.
If there are any special conditions specific to your child's health such as allergies, food restrictions, medication instructions, you must list them in the Medical Information Section on the registration form.
Health And Safety Expectations
Safety and general well being are important issues at ACC Leisure Services Summer Camps. Because summer camp is a vigorously energetic experience, the possibility of injury exists. This can range from major to minor cuts and abrasions to sprained joints, bee stings, concussions, broken bones, etc. With a large number of campers together, it is also possible that illnesses transfer from one person to another. These can range from the flu to a common cold, strep throat and even chicken pox. Should ACC Leisure Services Summer Camps find that a camper has become sick with a highly contagious illness, that camper will be quarantined and, if deemed necessary, sent home. Please do not send your child to summer day camp if you know that they have an illness or infection of any kind.
Drop Off/Pick-Up Times
Please check your camp's specific information on our website, www.accleisureservices.com as times vary by camp site. If your child does not arrive at camp on time they may miss out on activities and field trips.
