Scholarships What is an ACC Leisure Services Scholarship? A scholarship offers an opportunity to pay less than the full fee for a Leisure Services program. In some cases participants may qualify for a 100% scholarship and not have to pay any of the program fee. Click here for a Brochure (PDF) about our scholarships. Who is Eligible for Consideration for a Scholarship? Any Athens-Clarke County resident, under the age of eighteen, may apply for a scholarship. Which Programs Offer Scholarships? Any Leisure Services program, except for the East Athens Educational Dance Center, charging at least $10.00, offers scholarships to those who qualify. The Tennis Program at Bishop Park has a limited number of scholarships. What information is required for a scholarship? Applicant must provide a current and reliable photo ID, along with... One of the following is an acceptable credential for Dependency Verification: Current income tax return Cuurent letter from Clarke County School District that lists the parents name, child's name and address (must be signed by a school official) Current legal/notarized credientials stating guardianship/custody of child Current Housing Authority "Tenant Accounting" worksheet Current DFACS letter Current rental lease that lists names of individuals in the household Current Section 8 letter Current statement/letter with dependent's name(s) from a local, state or federally funded agency One of the following is an acceptable credential for Income Verification: Current income tax return Current statement/letter/card from a local, state or federally funded agency such as: TANF card PeachCare card Medicaid card Section 8 Social Security Unemployment Current pay stub (gross earnings) Weekly (4 x gross earnings = total monthly earnings) Bi-weekly (2 x gross earnings = total monthly earnings) Monthly Current W-2 (form total annual gross earnings) One of the following is acceptable credential for Residency Verification Current Housing Authoirty "Tenant Accounting" worksheet Current utility bill with applicant's name on it Current rental lease with address listed Current Section 8 Letter Current statement/letter from a local, state or federally funded agency Current letter from Clarke County School District that lists the parent's name, child's name and address (must be signed by a school official) How Do I Apply for a Scholarship? Complete a Leisure Services Scholarship Form and deliver completed form, along with required documentation, to any Leisure Services facility. These forms are available at all Leisure Services facilities and may be printed out from this website. Please see below. What Happens if I am Awarded a Scholarship? Upon receiving a scholarship, a "scholarship card" will be issued to the recipient. The card is valid for one year from date of issue. What Does a Scholarship NOT cover? Scholarships do NOT cover admission, entrance, or rental fees. Is There a Limit on How Many Scholarships are Available Per Program? The Bishop Park Tennis Program has a limited number of scholarships available. In all other programs, except for the East Athens Educational Dance Center, Leisure Services will grant a scholarship to all those who qualify. Who Can I Contact with Questions?
